(62,325 posts)And I've been following this movement since before it went live on Sept. 17th. Where were you involved, I have friends pretty much all over who are supportive of the movement and not one of them would agree with that.
But if you were trying to turn the movement into a political appendage to an existing party, then you totally misunderstood what it was about.
There are members of OWS who are running for office as Democrats eg, one right here in CA and he is a great candidate.
In NYC elected Dems are part of the movement themselves, some even being arrested and now joining Occupiers in a lawsuit against Bloomberg and 'his private army' for false arrest, among other things. This is a great phase of the movement right now, 'occupying the courts' where OWS has been winning every case.
I've never heard anyone say this before, so I'm interested to know where you were.
Edited to add, I just noticed the old rightwing 'hippie' nonsense in your comment. Lol, OWS has been accused of being run by 'spoiled young college brats' who never heard of hippies, and it's been accused of being run by 'commies' and of being run by Democrats and of being run by 'homeless welfare queens' and of course, from the Right, who seem obsessed with the old 'hippie' meme, 'run by hippies'. Lol, I guess it can't be all of those things, but it shows how diverse it is, making it so difficult for its right wing detractors to stick to a smear to attack it with.
