Does anyone else remember the US response to the South Asia tsunami on 12/26/04? Within two days -- TWO DAYS -- our help was implemented. Tons of money (350M$ at first, later increased by an additional 950M$) 12,600 DoD personnel, plus troops [offered] from those stationed in Japan, loads of ships, planes, rescue ops, medical teams, cargo, etc. all rushed to help. And then a commitment to help rebuild. Jeebus! That was BUSH the younger. About a month later, he and Bill C. visited. Yeah, right - we could help 'strangers' halfway across the globe in a region with (sorry) much less infrastructure even before the disaster, but not our own citizens, because well, um, the Atlantic and all.
