"Lapdog" is more the term that comes to mind for me. Pence tries to make it as plain as day that he admires and supports Dolt 45. He doesn't want to run any risk of alienating Donny.

But, when the time is right, I don't for a second doubt that Pence is capable of undercutting Trump and seizing power for himself. He has it in him, IMO. You don't get to be where he's at without stepping on some toes, at the very least.
