(14,128 posts)approach one could have considering this rather vast collection of unknown extremes hurling around. If all the basics of my life were in order and I wasn't resposible for making the decisions that put my family at risk in this strange time we live in, I would probably have the resolve to put things to rest as you have. But I am very concerned for personal issuse I can't change because I can't burden my family with those concerns... so I carry it myself so they don't have to.
I have a 14 year old in Seattle, away from home for the first time participating in an important opportunity I would never deny him because of silly rumors of nuclear war, I'm concerned. I have a high school age daughter hiking on the west coast near points of nuclear contention. I worry. If by some strange happenstance there was a nuclear incident caused by two toddler minded maniacs with the power to wreak havoc on our society and separate me from my kids by a thousand miles, I would not be happy.
There are situations that make the idea of "oh well, I can't do anything anyway" not quite realistic when I have trusted my kids to a reasonably known society to find out that those reasonably knowns are on the verge of infinitely unknowable.
