(38,310 posts)17. When our kids were small there was a pier we'd visit.
Near the public restroom was a warning sign about the sea lions. It depicted a toothy sea lion ripping the hand off a stick figure tourist, blood spurting.
I wish I had a photo of it because it's long since been removed, probably because nearby businesses didn't want to scare the tourists away.
I've been bumped playfully by sea lions and seals while snorkeling and kayaking. It's scary even when I'm certain they've got no intention of harming me.
Wild animals are wild animals. They have teeth. They do unexpected things.
