a person paying into the Social Security system through their work, then when retired at 65, they become eligible for Medicare. A lot of people are never in the system in their work, or never have enough days working for someone who has deducted for Social Security, so they are not eligible for Social Security or Medicare. Is that correct? Myself, I am eligible for S.S. and Medicare only through my husband's employment since I stayed at home most of my working lifetime.

My point is, there would have to be some way to pay for it; what would be a good way to do that? As someone above illustrated, I have Medicare Insurance taken out of my Social Security benefits monthly.
