1. i don't think it's deregulation that's to blame, for a change.

it's a general contempt for employees and customers.

they're just trying to squeeze people for maximum profit, forgetting that these are actual human beings, and there might be a cost to treating human beings as if they were machines.

point is, even in an absence of regulation, businesses ought to be able to figure out that it can't be good business to use force against a paying customer, whether the fine print permits it or not.
