15. Welcome to the party, Intercept

Is anyone seriously shocked that racism played a part in the 2016 race? Or sexism? Though I recall reading several DU posters who vehemently disagreed, said the anyone claiming sexism was wrong, wrong, wrong. It's easier to say that the white working class was driven by desperation--no jobs, no options, utter despair. But who did these voters blame for their predicament? Nasty immigrants, uppity blacks and . . . obnoxious women.

I had a recent conversation with a good friend, a true blue Dem, working class white who voted for Hillary but said quite pointedly,"people voted for Trump because they were pissed off that the 'undeserving' were getting more than they were."

Says it all.

So three cheers for the Intercept crew. They saw the light. About 6 months too late. They were too busy demonizing Hillary Clinton. Because emails. Or President Obama because . . . whatever. And I say this as someone who was critical of a number of POTUS's policy issues.

But now? It all sounds pretty stupid, doesn't it?? My petty complaints about President Obama or Hillary Clinton's email brouhaha (which I never bought into).

Nothing like a fascist to cleanse a voter's palate. And/or scare the bejesus out of all of us.
