The people of the Soviet Union and China did not have:

1. A right to a job.
2. A right to a decent wage and a decent living (living wage).
3. A right decent home.
4. A right to adequate medical care.
5. A right to economic protection during sickness, accident, old age or unemployment.
6. A right to a good education (public).
7. A right to pursue a business without fear of intimidation or unfair competition.

In practice, communism is a system where the banks own everything. Karl Marx's ideas were promoted by bankers. Corrupt and sucking all the GDP to the top -- we are close but we aren't communist yet.

Sounds like the basic socialist philosophy I learned from my grandfather to me. hobbit709 Jun 2012 #1
