(31,302 posts)I lost faith in fellow citizens because of the election results. I'm deeply distressed by how many people were taken in by Trump.
Yes, there are the deplorables who were thrilled with his message of misogyny, racism, xenophobia, but way too many people
were not able to identify him as a pathological liar and untrustworthy. Plus, he's just not a decent human being.
I fear we're in for some very dark days. I think Trump will survive less than a year in office (whether he resigns, is impeached, or
dies), but Pence is awful, too. Both are hateful, unempathic men who do not believe in equal rights for all citizens.
So, yes, I'm in mourning for my country. And I have zero respect for anyone identified as Republican. That includes family whom I know
voted for Trump. But I can't let it overwhelm my life.
Interestingly, my husband is a shrink--still working part-time--and he has said that almost all of his patients have expressed some level
of dismay over the election and are finding themselves affected emotionally by it on a day to day basis.
I think that those of us who value government and see it as a means to improve lives of our fellow citizens are all affected by the election
results because the Republican party appears to have little or no use for government for that purpose. Think about it. What's the first thing
they want to get rid of? Health care. Yeah, let's have military parades instead. And that woman nominated for Education Secretary. Good lord.
She's out to destroy public education. The list goes on and on...it's almost as though Trump is choosing not the best person for the job, but the best person to destroy the office for which he/she is nominated.
Yes, I'm in mourning and angry. WTF was the matter with people voting for that sociopathic $hitbucket?
