2000 census facts taken from wikipedia. It is rural, dry land, poor, people have a tendency to die young from alcoholism, accidents, cancer and other "should be preventable" reasons. There is not much paid work nearby.

Median age was 20 yrs.

Median household incoome $19,265.
Median family income $18,583.

Per capita income $5,717.

Half the families and population were below poverty line.
