5. They were targeted and driven underground

With the rise of Nixon, the split with the EJW, the attacks by the state, the surveilance, and the changes in the seventies, by the eighties the ones I saw growing up we trying to protect the neighborhood from crack dealers and street gangs. It is my opinion this was the goal of the republican party and parts of the democratic party.
But really, there is so much more to it than can be summed up in one post, but there are many books written by members to read and discover what happened.
