And would just like to add, as per what passiveporcupine pointed out to me, labeling it as simply an 'all religions' problem ignores some important nuances to the situation and conversation. I wasn't trying to just say all religions are bad by default.

From here I think there may be a good opportunity for a conversation on how certain things are presented to youth based on their tendency to trust every word their parents' say. But that's a big can of worms, and possibly detracting from the current issues.
