2. Hate to disappoint you, but you didn't break through to him. He's a believer.

People with the mindset of a believer take on a sentiment or notion or opinion and then keep it.
Arguments aren't judged on their merits but on their circumstances, like age and who made them.

Belief in Trump fullfills a desire in those people, just like a belief in a religion, a belief in a conspiracy-theory, a belief that a particular group of people is very good at playing ball...

The belief comes from within them. They believe because it makes them happy.

You cannot talk people into abandoning their belief and becoming unhappy. It has to come from within them: They need a motivation that is stronger than their desire to believe.

TS: Spoken like a true fear mongering race baiter.

The concept that he's part of a community and that this community is under attack.

TS: No crying. Just Truth.

The concept that an absolute truth exists and that he holds it.

TS: Sad part is that you really believe your lies. Your fear and hatred blinds you.

Again, he has the truth and you do not, therefore you are automatically false.

TS: You are taking fragments of quotes and twisting them to your own agenda.

Anger at you for pointing out errors in his holy text, for not reading it appropriately.

TS: There is the difference between you and me. I see people as the greatness they are, you see them less than.

Disconnect between the sanctioned version of his belief and his personal version of his belief: Typical mindset of a believer.

He seems like a believer to me, and the psychological mindset of "belief" does not operate on logic: It has its own set of rules (for example: do not doubt what the elders tell you) and its own philosophical roots and is philosophically incompatible with methods of revelation based on doubt (e.g. science).
