(19,071 posts)I bought my 1st Triumph when I was 19. It was an eight year old TR3 that was a pile of junk, but it set me on a lifetime interest. I've since owned several, culminating in the TR6 I have today.
Your old '61 probably didn't get baled for scrap metal. Parts have always been sought after and many can be brought back to life after years of neglect. The building in the entered image above is a recycling warehouse here in NE Ohio specializing in British automotive called "Team Triumph". it's owned by a good friend and I work there part time in my retirement, along with a few like minded fellow retirees.
We tear apart abandoned Triumphs, Austin Healys, and MGs, warehouse the parts, and ship all over the world. Nothing restorable is torn apart and we keep better examples on the road indefinitely.
The place is more akin to a museum inside:

While at that shop we disassemble Triumphs, another good friend owns a garage here where Triumphs are put back together from the frame up. I hang out there in my spare time. Who knows, parts from your baby may live on in this restored TR3:
