even if some of those who participated in this action don't, their enthusiasm and initiative may inspire others to vote. And they will be more likely to vote in the next elections two years later.
A value like voting, established early, is hard to break... which is why I always took my kids with me when I voted.

As college freshmen, we made signs for a Wallace rally, took a photographer, bombed them.
