In reply to the discussion: Arabs’ sexual harassment in Germany and its effect on Merkel’s plans [View all]Jim Beard
(2,535 posts)4. I could have told them that a long time ago as I remember the consequences of the Marial Boatlift to
the US from Cuba. Why do people have such short memories. That was 1977 and things as that do not change.
As far as I can see, most of the people here who still continue argue for massive immigration have a vested interest in it.
Furthermore, The huge migration will cripple Europe's social programs and the current citizens will be hurt.
Some were dreaming that the increase in population would help support the German economy however it appears it is the other way around.
Marial Boatlift
Initially, the Carter administration had an open-arms policy in regard to Cuban immigrants. Cubans were immediately granted refugee status and all the rights that went with it. Additionally, public opinion towards Cuban refugees was initially favorable.
This situation changed when it was discovered that the refugees included criminals and people from Cuba's mental hospitals. Castro arranged for the inclusion of criminals and people with mental illness among the political and economic refugees in order to rid Cuba of undesirables and to damage the image of Cuban exiles.[citation needed] United States media accounts such as a May 11, 1980 New York Times article, and the 1983 movie Scarface, suggested that the refugees consisted largely of undesirables.

"Ship 'em out yesterday." Almost sounds like mass deportation. Who do we 'ship out'?

It's a problem for western culture and western democracies in general, and liberalism in particular.

Round who up? Ship who out? It should be easier than the mass deportation of our 'illegal immigrants

I would agree with that. The OP seemed to be addressing all Muslim men as equally guilty. n/t

The Germans can't be blamed for being concerned about large gangs of newly arriving immigrants

That is because Steinem, Walsh, Marcotte, and Pollitt aren't demagogues pretending to be liberals

My point was that the events in Köln, Hamburg and Stuttgart are specific to Germany
