Congress can vote to defund the war and vote for funds to bring them home. It would take a bit of courage. If the war was defunded only a lunatic president would leave them there. Is this too simple?
Another thing, the cowards of Congress could have voted to stop the drone warfare against Isis if they wanted to but they refuse to take a vote on authorization of force.
And you watch, right will try to gin up Obama bashing over France and dems will be too scared to look weak and both sides will refuse, refuse to take a vote because look at what happened when Hillary voted to give the president power to go to war in Iraq. It cost her in 08.
They could have defunded Obama after he put the war in the budget. They could have voted on new authorization they could have voted they didnt. I really don't want to hear any members of Congress take an anti war stance if they voted to fund our adventures.
This is what I propose for our war. A vote for declaration of war. Raise taxes to pay for it. Draft everyone, men and women, the government take over private industry and turn it into a war machine, stop trading with any country that supports the enemy and ration those goods, put this in front of the American people. Tell us we will not withdraw no matter how long it takes. See if we will support that because if we can't do that these wars that cost us so much are not worth it. We have been promised wars that last 6 days, 6 weeks certainly not 6 months. We were told they will embrace democracy and be allies, we were told oil will pay for it. All lies.
Obama, and I love the guy, best president in my lifetime, thinks we can stay in a holding pattern with drones and advisors, I've seen this war before.
