Sorry, it's just not gonna happen.

Trump is Sanders. Rabid support among a relatively small percentage of the electorate. Sound and fury is depth of support x percentage of electorate. Thing is, the election is still mostly about % of electorate. Voter turnout matters, but a "meh" vote = a "I'm burning for Bernie" or an "I'm all in for T. Rump--Tyrannosaurus Rump!" vote.

Getting that narrowness to broaden enough for long enough just won't happen, IMHO. In fact, the rabidness of the support is one hindrance.

Trump doesn't look quite like Sanders yet, but that's because it's Trump versus 16 others, most of whom aren't well known among an electorate that doesn't much care.

Of course Trump can win. Who is better among that mob? BlueStreak Aug 2015 #4
25% would not be enough to win the primaries. You need a majority, not plurality of delegates. DemocratSinceBirth Aug 2015 #7
normally, yes, but with nearly 20 candidates in the race Adenoid_Hynkel Aug 2015 #8
You need a majority of delegates to win either the Democratic or Republican nomination. DemocratSinceBirth Aug 2015 #10
As a practical matter, the person with the most votes generally is the nominee BlueStreak Aug 2015 #15
I think if Trump were to wind up with a large plurality of delegates, ericson00 Aug 2015 #25
