(469 posts)Let me state this up front - I am as staunch a Bernie Sanders supporter as you'll find. I'll be working my fingers to the bone, the souls of my shoes into dust, and donating to his campaign until it hurts! There is no better representative of my own view of what America can, and rightfully should, be than the junior Senator from Vermont.
That said, however, I am willing to acknowledge that there is a chance that despite my/our best efforts, Bernie MIGHT NOT be the Democratic nominee. And although many of you refuse to discuss that possibility, somewhere deep down you MUST acknowledge it, because if it were a sure thing we wouldn't have to work so hard for it, would we? And I have heard him say, DOZENS of times, that HE WILL NOT RUN AS AN INDEPENDENT, because splitting the vote from the left will be a DISASTER!
The Supreme Court is on the line here, people. Do we want more Alitos on the bench, or more Ginsbergs? Right now, we have 5 monarchists in black robes dictating national policy, conflating property (money) with speech, and granting Constitutional rights to artificial people (corporations) without hearts. They have dictated the policies that have fouled our electoral system, I see making them the minority on the bench as the precursor for everything else the left wants to accomplish.
Those of you who say "Bernie or NOBODY!", and refuse to even discuss a contingency, are likely paving the road to the White House for some lucky and undeserving Republican. Good luck with THAT, friends.
