...he was the chief assistant of Mennen Williams, the undersecretary of African Affairs...and I can just remember Dad telling us how upset the President was over Lumumba's death. Kennedy really did believe in Africa, and wasn't paranoid about the spread of Communism there. Dad always said that after JFK's death, it was never the same...
