(8,554 posts)11. Yup, me too! During the April 3, 1974 tornado swarm...
that flattened the Ohio town of Xenia, I was working in a plant down in Cincinnati and as we all ran outside, my supervisor got knocked unconscious by a hailstone that was only about the size of a golfball. It just layed her out, right there at the door sill, with hundreds of other women behind us frantic to get out of the damn building. People were trampling and jumping over her, we had to drag her over to the side, all of us getting pelted by the biggest hail I'd ever seen.
It's hard to fathom softball chunks of ice falling from the sky and yes, it is certainly is terrifying!
