4. Mr. Murdoch, your metaphor is wrong

Capitalism isn't a shackled thoroughbred yearning to run free. Confined by the bitter and envious, this innocent gentle creature just wants to hoist us all on its back and thunder into a glorious future.

Rather capitalism is manufactured monster capable of prodigious work, but also possessing a prodigious appetite. It has to be kept in chains because it will eat everything, every resource, every individual, every society. It is structured to absorb and concentrate. It cannot run unregulated because the ones who reap the most benefit from capitalism are addicted/infected by capitalism and mentally prone to absorb and concentrate. As capitalism gobbles resources it gains power, it uses that power to gobble resources. It must be restrained by an outside agency. We, as a society, can balance the rewards from capitalism versus the dangers from capitalism through regulation by the action arm of society, the government.

Stop letting the addicts control the conversation.
