10. Once, when I was a single mother of my oldest son

who is 15 now. He was barely a year old & I had just left his dad who had used me as a human punching bag for about 4 years. I was about 20 years old & we lived in a house that we had to keep the power cut off to half the house bc when we would flip a light switch it sparked & sizzled from the switch to the light.

Needless to say I moved into a better apt & qualified for food stamps. However, they were cutoff as soon as my $100 a month in child support kicked in. Like that shit made a difference, but we dealt with it. I ran a paper route at 3 am with my son with me then worked a day job as well.
