Feb 2012

It has little at all to do with actual supply and demand, as the people selling it on the commodity market are not the suppliers and the people buying it are not the end users. The criminals that are making untold billions from this scheme thank you endlessly for your support.

These anti-car rants get tiresome tech_smythe Feb 2012 #1
Really, maybe you should ask for your refund. FarLeftFist Feb 2012 #2
Funny, so you think peak oil is fantasy nadinbrzezinski Feb 2012 #4

It applies to urban areas nadinbrzezinski Feb 2012 #34
I posted REAL solutions at the end.. did you not read that far? Zalatix Feb 2012 #41
Once things change, once more people hear the message in the OP and recognize JDPriestly Feb 2012 #56
I like my jeep. I do not want to live in a Tree and Eat Grass. End of story. CAPHAVOC Feb 2012 #17
Alas this is not about you living in a tree and eating grass nadinbrzezinski Feb 2012 #25
In my OP I described SOLUTIONS. They did not include eating grass or living in a tree. Zalatix Feb 2012 #40
As long as the national budget for this nation spends 49 cents out truedelphi Feb 2012 #87
49 cents? Cite, please? Zalatix Feb 2012 #90
Notmypriorities.org is a good place to start. truedelphi Feb 2012 #93
Jeep-lovers can keep their jeeps, but they will probably have to pay a lot more for gas. JDPriestly Feb 2012 #60
Exactly how many "anti-car" screeds have you had the opportunity to read here? TalkingDog Feb 2012 #35

you really don't like to read replies do you tech_smythe Feb 2012 #53
Well do tell me this one nadinbrzezinski Feb 2012 #58
Comments like that tend to make you sound like an angry troll... rfranklin Feb 2012 #59
Those measures, although important, wont have much impact on current prices. DCBob Feb 2012 #3
Short term yes... but peak oil is real nadinbrzezinski Feb 2012 #6
No doubt peak oil is real. Its just a matter of time. DCBob Feb 2012 #8
Why we need to invest in the techology to replace oil nadinbrzezinski Feb 2012 #10
There is a relatively simple answer to this.. natural gas. DCBob Feb 2012 #12
I love the idea of CNG as a replacement for gasoline but cherokeeprogressive Feb 2012 #16
Im not sure what you mean "idiot proof transfer system".. is it a safety thing? DCBob Feb 2012 #19
I don't think it's feasible to allow every Tom, Dick, or Harriet to fuel their own car with CNG. cherokeeprogressive Feb 2012 #28
Maybe we need to bring back the job of service attendant. DCBob Feb 2012 #30
I could get behind that idea tech_smythe Feb 2012 #32
In NJ customerserviceguy Feb 2012 #57
So would I actually. At a decent wage of course. n/t cherokeeprogressive Feb 2012 #55
if you read RIGHT BELOW you'll see a reliable system has been in place for decades tech_smythe Feb 2012 #31
But every Tom, Dick and Harriet pumps gasoline. Zalatix Feb 2012 #52
In The Netherlands it's normal to have LPG conversions tech_smythe Feb 2012 #22
Natural gas is only a solution if you ignore climate change NickB79 Feb 2012 #70
I think we have the technology to deal with "leaks". DCBob Feb 2012 #73
The question is, does the technology make fracking too expensive to continue? NickB79 Feb 2012 #76
As the price of oil goes up and up that question will be answered. DCBob Feb 2012 #82
Nadine, you hit it right on the head. We need more food AND energy decentralization. Zalatix Feb 2012 #43
Not only that, it is VERY CAPITALIST. nadinbrzezinski Feb 2012 #44
And we can't wait for the "invisible hand" to handle this. Zalatix Feb 2012 #47
That is the other thing nadinbrzezinski Feb 2012 #49
Yep, and many people only think in the short-term. GoCubsGo Feb 2012 #11
Measures are more intended to render the current prices irrelevant, rather than reduce them bhikkhu Feb 2012 #48
Good point. DCBob Feb 2012 #50

We are using less gasoline than we have BlueCaliDem Feb 2012 #9
perhaps we should make exporting of american fuel illegal tech_smythe Feb 2012 #33
That might get tricky, as much "American fuel" comes from foreign oil imports bhikkhu Feb 2012 #45
You left out a few VERY important facts Mikeystyle Feb 2012 #13
The price of oil is set by speculators. DefenseLawyer Feb 2012 #14
Exactly - there's no such thing as supply and demand anymore. Initech Feb 2012 #18
It has much more to do with production costs bhikkhu Feb 2012 #27
Oh well that clears that up. DefenseLawyer Feb 2012 #38
Are you arguing that production costs haven't gone up to the levels shown? bhikkhu Feb 2012 #42
I'm just a caveman DefenseLawyer Feb 2012 #67
Profit is definitely a factor as well, and they've generally increased with prices bhikkhu Feb 2012 #68
Almost all new oil coming online is either tarsands, shale, or offshore NickB79 Feb 2012 #71
I don't think you'll ever get Americans to live in hives. cherokeeprogressive Feb 2012 #15
I already addressed this point: I said in the OP that "hives" can in fact be disastrous. Zalatix Feb 2012 #39
In your conclusion you state "We can de-suburbanize the populace, moving them..." cherokeeprogressive Feb 2012 #54
Urban sprawl is bad, overcrowding is bad. The term of the day is 'happy medium'. Zalatix Feb 2012 #62
Thank you for a very well reasoned response. Gotta respect that. Tip o' my hat to ya. cherokeeprogressive Feb 2012 #65

I have no idea where you got that figure, but you're totally wrong Spider Jerusalem Feb 2012 #36
Check out this website: truedelphi Feb 2012 #81
A bit of basic math can easily be used to unravel that graph NickB79 Feb 2012 #83
I meant to post the following two links, and not the link I posted. truedelphi Feb 2012 #89
That website says the same thing Spider Jerusalem Feb 2012 #92
Nope, not only do they NOT take 45% percent of gas nadinbrzezinski Feb 2012 #46
Just one of oodles of articles one can find on googling "military going green" Zalatix Feb 2012 #51
Oh, and we need to ENCOURAGE rather than keeping outlawed, the use of HEMP truedelphi Feb 2012 #23
