(13,509 posts)When we fight the good fight
We may win or we may lose
But if we don't even try
Loss is what we choose
You are quite right, my friend. This struggle is constant and there is no final victory, at least as far as our eyes can see.
Impeaching the orange creature was not only the right thing to do; it was an absolutely necessary thing to do -- even though acquittal by the Senate was fairly certain from the start.
To ignore a serious crime is to tacitly condone it, and this crime represented an existential threat to the foundations of our democracy. If our Democratic leadership chose not to even try to impeach this POtuS they would have chosen a LOSS with potentially dire consequences for our country.
During the last four years and especially the conclusion of it we have stood on the edge of the abyss. We cannot avoid that dark fate by simply standing in place; a constant struggle is required to prevent being pulled down into it.
As I'm sure you know, the Good Fight is almost never a perfect fight. We make mistakes and take our lumps, but get up off the mat with an indomitable spirit and determination to continue on with the necessary struggle.
We stay strong as long as we keep working that shovel, moving that gravel, and fighting the Good Fight.
Peace, H2O Man. We need you, just as we all need each other.
