I think it would have been a lot more interesting if they had shown a black woman and white man, it's the relationship not seen as often and gives value to the black woman. If you use your "conquering" argument it's way more sexist with either than it is racist, neither should see it as "conquering". There is also a hopefully false perception expressed sometimes that when a black man "makes it" he marries a white woman and it would go against that.

The only black woman/white man relationship I can think of is Robert Deniro and his wife/partner and none shown in the media I can think of, plenty examples of the reverse.
