but the last two paragraphs are the reasons that most of the neo-conservatism sold the war. This is because so many of the neo-conservatives had strong affinities for Israel.

They wanted the US to attack Iraq, Iran, and Syria. Taking them down would leave Israel an unchallenged power in the Middle East, and in their minds, US and Israel's interests are little different, so the US would also then be unchallenged in the ME.

Syria has little oil. But Syria, along with Iran and Iraq, had some power in the region and these nations weren't subservient enough to Washington DC. They must be taken down.

Also, many of the war promoters were war profiteers. They thought they could both get their fantasized war and make a lot of money at the same time. Many of them did.
