10. The Recall Had Lots Of Problems...

...I'm just south of the "cheddar curtain" and did some canvassing and petitioning in 2011 for the recall and had several friends who were heavily involved in the effort. There were a lot of elections leading up to that recall...the recall of several State Senators that led to a tied Senate and then the Judicial election...fatigue was setting in. While I admire and give a lot of credit to those who worked real hard to obstruct and stop Walker, even they got tired of the constant campaigning and protesting...and voters did as well. Exit polls showed that Walker got votes from "moderates" who didn't like the recalls and felt there was outside (union) meddling. True or not, I heard this on several occasions as to why the energy level in the recall declined in its waning days...the problems with counting the votes was just icing on the cake.

The Democrats did win the state last year...with a far more focused and better financed campaign. Hopefully OFA, Labor and other organizations have had the chance to recharge and learn from past mistakes...and for the voters to have had enough of the union busting and corruption that surrounds Walker.

Cheers...
