Sending a physical document in the form of a piece of paper is going to seem very quaint.

As for the Founding Fathers, they were all for "Letters of Marque and Reprisal", giving someone a right to commit what would otherwise be an act of piracy. They even mentioned them in the Constitution.

A lot of what the Founding Fathers thought was good has gone by the wayside. The Postal Service is on the verge of being one of them in an electronic age that the FF's couldn't possibly have imagined.
