(53,739 posts). . . under Bush voted in the requirement that the Post Office pay into their retirement fund for workers 75 years into the future in 10 years (people who aren't even hired, or better yet, not even born yet). That's 5.5 billion a year. No other agency has to do such an outrageous thing and that's why the Post Office is going broke. Private business would spread such a funding requirement over 40 years. So even if it's written into the Constitution the Post Office can still go bankrupt if that 2006 law is not repealed. And then of course mail service will be privatized, which seems to be the aim of the 2006 law. FEDEX and UPS are salivating at the thought, and of course they will continue to write campaign fund checks to Issa and all the other repug reps and senators that vote to keep the 2006 law in place.
