Went over a rock on a dark dirt road. Weight of the truck spun the wheel from left lock to right. Fortunately my thumb was not wrapped into the wheel. Just grazed by the spokes as they whipped by. Good old Cam and Lever steering, under 140lbs the truck would steer you.

I lways do 8 and 4, it's more comfortable and my hand is closer to the shift.

I used to work with a guy who made a point of using his knees. He said it was useful at times.
