Fear of the unknown is what drives the anti-gun crusade. Even though it a statistical improbability that they will ever be a victim of gun violence, they believe they will be the victim of a mass shooting. That there is gun waiting to get them around every corner. That every gun owner is a threat. Fear.

Yep, fear is what makes some people want to have guns. Fear of rape, fear for themselves, fear for their family etc...fear of the unknown.

The only reason you call them "gun nuts" is to convince others that gun owners who don't meet your requirements have some kind of mental problems. The more people who associate guns with mental instabilities, the more support you have for your cause.
