(14,177 posts)There might be a connection. It is possible that because we place so much pride in our military and we spend so much on the military, that people get the idea that violence is virtuous. It is also possible that because we spend so much on the military that we neglect so many people that it has created a perfect place for violence to grow. I am not just talking about poor people, especially since many of the mass murderers appear to have been well off. But, it is possible that we have created a climate where everyone is expected to keep a stiff upper lip no matter what and some people get to a breaking point, no one notices because it is shameful to admit that a person might have issues.
Perhaps, if we are all kinder to each other and we petition our government to stop the bloodshed things could get a lot better. I can dream.
