being another one of those unfortunate turns of phrase, given the context.

In order for anything to be "bipartisan" at least some Republicans need to agree to something new. We shall see if anyone in the GOP is willing to consider taking a more responsible position, but if the fiscal cliff negotiations are any indication, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting.

I think we're on the cusp of a major sea change re: the power of the NRA and this nation's aversion to gun control. Four years ago Democrats were told that to support marriage equality and gays serving openly in the military would doom it to minority status till the end of time. Today we're being told the same thing about responsible gun regulations.

But the times, they are a'changin'.
