These women support the right because they believe the right will at least try and protect women from male aggression, especially rape. They think that if they follow all the prescriptions of the right, nothing bad will happen to them. They truly believe men will protect them (from other men). They also cling to the right because they know how the system is (still) heavily rigged against independent women, for that means almost certain poverty, especially in old age. They support the "traditional family" because they see that way of life is the "better deal" than being at risk for poverty and perhaps being more vulnerable to rape and prostitution.

Meanwhile, men aren't held accountable for committing violence against women. They "can't help it." That is just the way the world is, in these women's mindset. It is up to them to "control" them by limiting their own movements and lower their expectations for their own lives.
