2. There is no perfect system of governance.

There cannot be. There can, however, be systems that function without cruelty or widespread injustice. That's what ours has done, at least some of the time. It has done badly from time to time, as well. It is doing badly right now, it seems to me.

We need to return to a more balanced condition. We will never reach perfection. That is impossible in any society as large and varied as our. On the other hand, it's fairly easy to morph into tyranny. That situation is very difficult, and sometimes deadly, to correct.
