just perpetuates the problem of pissing off the other half the electorate.

That impulse to grab the wheel and veer recklessly off is what is causing Trump to lose support.

Rather than a mandate, it reveals an unspoken fear that you don't have much time to get radical changes done.

Something as big and important as the federal government needs to be steered with incremental course corrections.

Leaving the least offensive changes in place which were enacted by your opponent is a bitter pill to swallow.
