Any nominal watcher of Trek, or Science Fiction, and Baseball lovers (I enjoy it); you'd probably enjoy the Deep Space 9 episode:
"Take Me Out To The Holosuite".
(just came on Pluto TV yesterday)
Some ST For total beginners.
Deep Space 9 is a Space Station. The Commander, Captain is Benjamin Sisko is in "The Federation" (of United Planets). He's also a baseball fanatic, and keeps a baseball on his desk. Baseball is making a revival in part of The Federation.
He has a smug Vulcan (another species as in Spock, the pointy-eared guy) rival from Academy Days (initially sports related). He challenges this Vulcan to a baseball game. There's only 2 weeks to get a team in shape: "The Niners". So it's all about their prep, and the actual game.
The Holosuite is often a 2 story high by 1+ city block wide "box". They use energy to matter converters to create real scenery, buildings, cities, natural landscapes, rain, snow, fire etc right there, and vistas in the distance, objects, people, animals to make scenes, stories etc for participants to have fun, for study, practice, etc. They can make just about anything happen.
There are Safety Protocols to keep users safe. However they can be disengaged. People then can be Injured, or killed.
Anyway, it's really funny I m h o. Enjoy.
