We have both been treated - stage II pancreatic cancer and stage II prostate cancer. It is unlikely that we are totally clear at this point. But we can hope... and focus on healthy habits and prevention.
We have learned a lot about cancer. (I believe I am correct in my understanding, but I am not a doctor.)
- Cancer cells are not healthy cells. They are weak, but they are dysfunctional in a way that leads them to multiply out of control until they overwhelm and kill the host. The cancer eventually takes all of the energy and strength from the host.
- Some cancers are very persistent and adaptable - very dangerous. Some are very clever even though their "brains" actually function in an abnormal manner.
- Treating cancer always involves damage to the host. And pain. Fighting cancer requires courage. It requires determination. A coordinated multipronged approach works best.
- As we all know, the later it is in the malignancy process, the more damage cancer will have done and the more difficult it will be to stop it... IF it can even be stopped. Most cancers will have been growing for quite a long time, years, just not noticed or detected.
I am amazed at the similarities between cancer and malignant greed. What cancer is to the human body, malignant greed is to the nation. What has been happening in the USA for many years is a close parallel to cancer. Sure, there are some other illnesses in this country, many of which are chronic, but the serious illness in this country, the killer, is malignant greed, a way of functioning, that results in drastic wealth disparity. It is the illness that leads super wealthy individuals to want more, or want "all of it," to want unstoppable unrestrained power.
There are different ways to treat cancer. The longer we wait, the more difficult it will be, the more radical the treatment will need to be. The inflammation that precedes cancer is everywhere. It is red.
