My small town in NJ went for Trump last November. [View all]

A sizable demographic of the voters are Muslim-Americans and they voted en masse.

During the primaries in June, 2024, they voted against their congressional representative, Bill Pascrell, Jr., (who has been their staunch supporter), in favor of a challenger, because he was Muslim and he was very critical of the situation in Gaza. The challenger lost.

Back to November. I don't believe that this group was overly familiar with the issues that were inherent with voting for Trump. They were voting against Biden.

And in voting for Trump, this is what our town is going to get: deep cuts (if not full elimination of) federal funds for our schools. Because Trump & Co. are going to eradicate the Department of Education. And with the loss of those federal funds, our town will need to raise property taxes. And with the increase of property taxes, renters will be looking at hefty increases of their renters. (BTW, our town is mostly absentee landlords.)

Bet they didn't see that coming. Unfortunately, I did.
