Okay, has anyone else thought about the fact that after the hanging Chad's debacle in 2000, we were told we HAD ... [View all]

... to computerize the entire election system to make it "better, faster, more reliable, safer, and just the fix so there is no more hanging chads."

In 2000, I was responsible for maintaining a computer network with over 250 network devices. I had peers who held the same positions in other buildings. Two things surprised us at that time. The first was just how fast computers started showing up in election departments in communities nationwide. Those of us doing the jobs back then knew how long it took to spec new systems, get approval to purchase and implement the latest equipment and train people to accept and use the "new" equipment.

But more importantly, we couldn't believe the sales pitch they were using to convince those in charge that a computerized election system would make it "better, faster, more reliable, SAFER." To us, that was the last thing they were going to get. We all saw it as more vulnerable to hacking, and other hijinks (pornography) popping up on computer screens was an example of one of the early hacks.

Today, we are learning that our banks, colleges, businesses, medical records, military secrets, credit card data, and so on are being hacked (access from an outside source). And no one knows for days, weeks, or months before the public knows.

Why wouldn't we all consider that our voting could have been hacked?

How safe do you believe your bank, investment, and credit card accounts are? 100% safe. Do you think your vote is worth protecting?

And if you are thinking, "Oh, that's old data and old examples. Things have changed in 24 years," you are right, but BOTH things have changed. Computer security has changed, but so have hacking tools and skills.

My experiences tell me to doubt our voting systems are 100% safe and cannot be hacked.

The bottom line for me is I believe that those who don't want to or need to play by the rules will do anything to gain absolute power and riches, especially when the highest court in the country has your back, and they want the same thing POWER and riches with no one to check them.

Final thought: I believe we were all duped starting in 2000. Those with nefarious purposes talked us into making our elections safer. The opposite was true. They needed to have access to every vote no matter where in the country it was.

Remember, Trump said you will NEVER need to vote again. We'll have it fixed. I believe that and know part of the fixing is in place.
