Seems we're the ones living in a bubble [View all]

It's a bubble of truth and reality floating in a country of ignorance, indifference and, in some cases, malice.

To paraphrase what Jesus supposedly said, "... They know not what they've done."

I can't watch the pundits who are telling us we can "fix it" in four years. If they were being honest, they would state that this past election was the last one. No one is going to get to vote for anything in the next two or four years. As of next January 20th, when Trump is sworn in, Project 2025 will kick into full gear. I'd be surprised if Trump et. al. didn't celebrate that evening with a huge book burning on the Washington Mall, with tens of thousands cheering.

At it's very core, this was an election between good and evil. And evil won.

So here we are in our bubble of knowledge, understanding, intelligence, and perhaps even a touch of wisdom. We control none of the levers of power. And if we do nothing, we may well end up in one of the camps where 11 million people will be waiting to be deported. But the reality is, how do you deport 11 million people? You can't. And once Trump's Fourth Reich realizes how much it's costing to run those camps, another solution will be found. And more likely than not, it will be a "Final Solution." (For those too young to know what a "Final Solution" is, google it.)

And for those who have stopped reading this, I wish them well. But for those still here, we need a Plan B (or C, or D, or whatever).

We must form a resistance. For those of you out there who are natural leaders, you know who you are. Get started. As for me, I'm just a scribe who can write (occasionally inspiring) words, but putting together a widespread resistance to a soon-to-be fascist country,, is not one of my skills.

A curtain of evil is about to descend upon America and the world. We who live in this bubble of "A civilized society," are the last best hope for a return to reason, tolerance and sanity. Everyone of us must contribute the best of our abilities to try to make that come about. It won't be easy, and we may well lose. But no one's coming to save us. We here on DU, and millions of others like us are it.

Try to not give in to depression and hopelessness. Instead, focus on how we can unite, push back, and ultimately rid ourselves of the yokes of serfdom that will soon be around the necks of all. Never surrender. And if we can somehow, someway prevail, let us adapt a way to keep those who refuse to evolve from ever again coming to power. After all, their goal is death and destruction. Our goal is a better world for all.
