2. Citizens United opened the door wide to "contributions"

made by all sorts of bad guys (the Mob, hostile governments, Colombian cocaine barons) that are laundered through "firms" that exist only to hide their identities. Because of the nature of Citizens United, the sham companies aren't compelled to reveal a thing.

This is why it needs to be revisited and overturned quickly. The far right knows by now it won't work, that the major damage was done to their own candidates during that protracted primary last year and no amount of money poured into television ads against the president worked to unseat him. The will to keep it intact is just not there any longer.
