(6,382 posts)The GOP desperately wants a strong leader, one with clear vision, strength, and mental stamina, someone who appeals to mainstream America, a leader who can lead them to victory in any election.
They have been looking for such a leader for a very long time.
But the GOP being the party that attracts freeloaders, con artists, 'I am here for ME!' types, Trump is the best they can do.
If you squint real hard, you will see that Trump is the leader the GOP has been hoping for.
But the GOP is feeling uneasy, cognitive dissonance at work. Things don't feel quite right.
If your vision isn't clouded, you will see Trump for what he is. A sad old man, delusional, incoherent, showing the signs of mental decay and paranoia more and more each day.
I recognise the signs . . . when I was 15, decades ago, I had a weight problem.
Doctor prescribed the currently popular drug, now known collectively as speed, ie amphetamines.
I got heavily into the paranoia, word salad, developing new ideas by joining unrelated information together and thought it was a sign of intelligence, things common to long term speed addicts.
But I did lose weight. Along with my mind.
Anyhow . . .
Trump isn't the problem, he is the tip of the iceberg, a symptom of the GOP disease - his enablers and the whole GOP mindset are the problem.
