that he can't tell the difference between 2000 supporters and 1000 supporters who yell twice as loud.

He is pushing so hard on things that get his die-hard supporters even more excited and worked up. I am sure it is because he loves the feedback and affirmation they give him. But it does nothing to increase his votes.
