(86,567 posts)It's been raining for the past two weeks with small spurts of snow. We now have about 6-8 inches of half frozen slush on the ground that should, in a normal year, be at least 2-3ft of snow. The sun came out today, haven't sen much of that, right about freezing but that means anything in the direct sunlight is melting. All the rain of the past couple days was predicted to be lots of snow, just didn't happen that way. Winter sports/tourism is taking a major hit. My pansies next to the porch are still green and looking like they might bloom again. Kind of spooky, hasn't been very cold even though it gets into the 20s at night. Any real significant snow on the ground is way up around 8000ft. so there's snow on the mountains but not below 8000ft. really. It was in the 90s a lot this summer and really dry, had lots of forest/range fires.
