I saw the great Elvin Bishop play in Kent, and guess who he slammed. [View all]

It was a small theater show with blues legend and harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite.

The song was a whimsical "What The Hell Is Going On?". In it he asks the rhetorical question at the end of each verse.

Here is an excerpt:

Look at the shape, the shape the nation's in
The situation is a shame and a sin
I want to know, how could a good thing go so wrong?
Yeah, tell me, what the hell is going on?

[Verse 2]
Sometimes I don't know whether to cry or laugh
Half the people in this country can't stand the other half
I want to know, why can't we halfway get along?
Ahh, people, people, what the hell is going on?

[Instrumental Bridge]

[Verse 3]
He was the president, but wanted to be the king
But you know what I like about the guy? Not a goddamn thing
I want to know, how can four years seem so long?
Yeah, Lord have mercy, what the hеll is going on?

Then he sang another verse about "If he gets back in" but I forget the rest. He got a pretty rousing reaction from the nearly sold out crowd.
