If I plug in my car at night before bed, I expect it to be charged the next morning. If the grid operators need to take energy out of my car instead, I would want substantial compensation to overcome the fear I'll wake up one morning and my battery won't have the range I need.

They also need to make their battery warranties rock solid, so that people don't worry about failure from this.

I'd also want the option to turn that option on and off as necessary. Going on a road trip for the weekend? Open an app, turn it off so I have a full charge. Get home, open an app, turn it back on.
