(56 posts)....I got to go to Fort Walton Beach. I was a little tad with a full head of hair and unbridled optimism about life. Fort Walton Beach had to be one of the most beautiful places I had ever seen. The sand was sparkling white, not like the yellowish sand on the E. Coast. The water was stunningly clear and free of debris (unlike the beaches in CA).
Having grown considerably older and jaded since those days, I would never go back to Florida again. But it really pisses me off that the OPTION of going back to those wonderful, pristine beaches no longer exists. Then to top that injury off, I hear a constant barrage of phucking BP ads on the radio - all day long - telling me how the Gulf is open and just fine.
Like sprinkling some clean sand on a pile of shite is gonna cover up the stink?
What's the point? We have passed the tipping point in saving this planet. I give us maybe 10 years before things really start going to hell. And you know what? Arseholes on the Reich will still be thumping their gnarled little fists on the Corporate Media telling us everything is just f-ing fine!
